How to make a live stream
To broadcast live to your eVideo-Box Platform, you’ll need an app. This will take your video and audio and broadcast it to the platform which in turn will broadcast it to your audience.
eVideo-Box requires you to use an RTMP Publisher tool. These tools are called a variety of fancy names such as “live streaming video encoders” and “live video tools”.
How Do I Live Stream?
To live stream you must have OBS installed on your machine or a viable alternative and understand how to use it which is out of the scope of this tutorial. Please google OBS, or visit their site, or watch some youtube walkthroughs to get a basic grasp of it. Once you have a subscription and it has been activated, a new 'Go Live' button will appear alongside the upload buttons.
Live streaming is very resource and bandwidth heavy and is therefore not offered as a free service, however some users have beta access to the service to help us test it and will expire 01/01/24.
Understanding the eVideo-Box 'Go Live' streaming panel
It is split into 4 sections as follows:
1. Top left are your RTMP settings that you need for OBS. You can copy them using the little clipboard icon to the right of each entry. On the face panel of OBS you need to click on settings and then 'stream' and then set it to custom from the drop down. Then paste the 'server URL' you copied from eVideo-Box into the 'server' box and then duplicate this procedure for the eVideo-Box 'stream key' and then click 'ok' on OBS. That's all you need to do to stream to eVideo-Box because if at this point you was to click the 'start streaming' button on the face panel of OBS it will stream to the home page of eVideo-Box.
2. Bottom left are the stream settings and are fairly straight forward.
The title will be title of your stream.
Password protect will be to protect the stream and make it private, only giving out the key to trusted users.
Make stream pubicialy listed is to either have it as a private stream for only yourself to view or public allows everyone to view it.
Auto record this live stream allows you to chose to save the stream to eVideo-Box or not and it will appear in the category you chose in the stream settings.
Description will appear in your stream window when a user is viewing and this description also will be saved if you choose to save the stream and also all chat will be saved as comments along with the saved video.
Poster Image which is next to stream meta data is to change the image for your live stream. Poster image is for the main image that users will see on the homepage. Pre-roll poster is the image that will display as the opening image to your stream and post-roll poster will be the closing image.
3. Top right is the Share Info and restream settings.
Restream allows you to stream your live stream to many places at once, like youtube, twitch and facebook. You will need an account with either or all of those services if you want to restream there. You will see the social media buttons under the restream settings and when you click on them it will log you in ready to stream to that location. You can test the stream and see your active streams there.
Next to the restream tab are the sharing links for the stream if you want to stream to your blog, social media or embed it into your website page.
4. Bottom Right
Here you can schedule a live stream and the schedule will appear on the home page with a countdown and will remain there until the stream starts. You can also set an image for the schedule by going into the saved schedule after you have saved it.
